It's ALIVE!!

Well, I think I've got enough of the bugs worked out to take the new site live. Currently, there's not much there in the way of content, however the 'hard' stuff is done, and the way it's set up, I'll be able to add volunteers to help out eventually, should the need arise.

At this point, no... It still needs to go through me. In any case, even if I do allow some sort of direct posting, it will likely be moderated, i.e. new submissions would need to be approved before they go live. That said, the user system will allow me to more easily accept volunteers to keep the site updated and to post incoming stories and such. I haven't made any final decisions in that respect, but it's definitely a good possibility.

But I do have a query , after I registered and put in my brith date it seems to only go back to dec. 31 1969 no mater what I try, I get that date, I`m wondering is it a set limit or something that may be amiss?

Ah... It sounds like you found a bug... Since the system is based on a system called Drupal[=http://www.drupal.org]Drupal, I don't know all of the inner workings, but testing it out myself, it looks like somewhere along the way it tries to convert the date to a Unix timestamp (meaning it changes the date into a number representing the number of seconds since Jan 1, 1970). This sometimes can cause problems on dates earlier than 1970. In any case, your birthdate is not required info, but if you really want to share it, you might put it in the 'Interests' field.

after several weeks filled with a lot of work and several sickness periods I have again time to post here.
I have found no errors the new implementation of Robin's NIMH Fanfiction Archive. The presentation is still great and I like the category indexes and the direct access to the story pictures.
Thank you for building and maintaining this nice big virtual library on your website grounds.

Heh, better not let Robin hear you say that. ;) Seriously, the mouse up at top is a pic of Robin's character; Robin created and maintained the site for several years before it passed to my hands, so the mouse won't be going away any time soon.

To much history since 1997, Robin`s fan-fic site was one of my first intros in to the world of NIMH online and on the internet, tho for me it was only four years ago :wink:

I give a hearty "Thumbs up" to Robin, she has done so much thru the years to keep NIMH fan-fics going strong. :D

And now Simon maintains it, and has kepted the "old Robin mouse" for a home page :) .

Yeh a mouse, and Daphine`s art if I`m not wrong. Wow! I just visited her site and it`s going strong :) , this reminds me to nab a banner from her and link her site from mine when I get some time.
I remember hitting her site banners to see other NIMH sites, thats how I got here to Thorn Valley :wink:

I always looked at those neat sites and wondered how do they do it ?
In time, some friends from another animation forum helped me to start a site and one said "What animation subject or movie do you want to use ?", I`m Thinking are you kidding ?, "The Secret of NIMH".
