Yes, it's true. Robin's site will be moving to Thorn Valley, as was mentioned in this forum post on Robin's site[=http://www.karthurville.com/forum/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000047] in this forum post on Robin's site. To make this transition as easy as possible, I've set up this forum to talk about the future of the site and to answer any questions people may have. Once the switchover has completed, this will become a place where you can chat about and post reviews for fan fiction.

More details will be coming soon!

Yo!

Interesting developement, I will be looking forward to seeing what it will be like seeing two great sites coming together as one vast masterpeice.

:?: Simon, will you be changing the graffics presentation of the site, adding to it or will you just leave it as it is? :?:

:?: Do you think that by joining the site with yours you will increase the popularity of "Thorne Valley"? :?:

Later! :D :D :D

There will most likely be some changes to the graphics and presentation of the stories, changes that I hope will be for the better. However, I haven't set in stone just what those changes will be yet. Some of the ideas I've had include making the Archive searchable/sortable, adding some features to make the stories easier to read on screen and print, etc. If anyone has any other ideas, I'd love to hear about them.

Um, probably a bit, if there was anyone that visited Robin's site regularly that didn't visit Thorn Valley. As far as statistics go, I imagine that there will be more visits to the site than I currently receive; however, keep in mind that according to my statistics (which may or may not be accurate), I currently receive an average of about 6,000 visits (not necessarily visitors) per month to the site; so if you measure popularity by number of visits, it's already modestly popular.

Also, one other thing that I'd like to make clear: I was approached by Robin about this, not the other way around. So please don't read it as an attempt to grab more visitors or what not (I mean, it's not like I get paid or anything). This is about keeping the Fan Fiction Archive alive and vital, and I'm happy to use my resources to do so.

I am pleased that Simon has agreed to take over caring for Robin's Archive for me. It's been on the web since 10-23-97, but in recent years I have not been able to update and maintain as well as I used to.

Rock on! :D

There will continue to be a forum specifically for the Fan Fiction archive, however, old posts will remain on Robin's Karthurville forums.

For those of you who were "members" of the Robin site, the board at Karthurville has moved (complete with NIMH forum)

New location is:

Will the strict policy on content of stories remain? I mean, it was kind of a plus finding a fan-fic site (or any story-hosting site for that matter) that had restrictions on what was allowed, you know? Will that stay the same?

Yes. It will stay pretty much the same as it has... Now I just need to get around to building a server that can handle the archive...

Sorry to bump this but I can't get onto the site. I'm interested in this contest that I've heard about but the site is either down or there is only a certain way to get there.

At last update i heard, simon was still battling with the drupal on that site. He said something about the archive being back up soon, but i haven't heard anything since.
The contest, if you're still interested, is to do a story that regards life in the rosebush. If I remember correctly (which is a stretch for me) it was said that it could happen any time, and really take place anywhere, but the rosebush was the topic chosen to get everything off the ground, so to speak.
Anyway, that's what i know, hope it helps.
