Thanks! Also, when I said that I hated animated films, I meant children's animated films. I could watch the South Park movie, Heavy Metal, and Bevis and Butthead till my mind turned into mush. I guess this is what happens when you grow up watching movies like Se7en instead of Bambi.

Welcome aboard and a big “aarrrrrrhhh!” I never thought “TSoN” could be regarded as the animated film for people who don’t like animated films, but then you clarified your point. I’ve always enjoyed animation that can be enjoyed by kids and adults alike, but some made primarily for adults I like too. Then again, “The Flintstones” was originally conceived as being for adults.

...and only 10% of them have anything meaningful to say. The rest are just immature tomfoolery made by boredom.
It's inevitable really, during the summer I had little to do and my friends certainly weren't around. I spend a lot of time on the computer...it's kinda part of my student life. In fact two of my classes don't take place in the classroom, they take place on the computer and require no books. I do very little reading outside of the computer
I also do most of my communication using the computer. Ray Bradbury (but hey at least I know who he is!) would probably crucify me.
...and off topic, but I can't wait to read the rest of your story, despite the Jenner bit, it's really good. Do you write romance often? You should, you're damn good at it.

But you ARE being serious in my sequel fanfic thread, right? It'd be a pity if I have to disregard everything you said in there. :x

Yes I am serious about your sequel. If I wasn't being serious I would've probably centered the plot around the rats eating their babies after they've exhausted their food supply.

So I noticed you listed anything by Ann Rand as among your favorite books. So I ask liputs on fire suitli how do you feel that in every NIMH fanfic that Thorn Valley is depicted as a co-operative utopia?
Not trying to be super political or anything, or pick a fight. It was something I've been wondering about for some time.

Oh, I just find the philosophy interesting, I don't follow it. Mostly it came from the video game "Bioshock."

I remember once in a really, REALLY early version of my sequel that Thorn Valley was depicted as spooky, barren, and with the rats on their last leg.

Well, I wasn't even on the forum at the time, let alone writing the most recent version of my fanfic. I was in the middle of Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, somewhere around the Isabella scene.

A fanfiction about a Thorn Valley that puts the individual above the community as a whole doesn't seem likely. Where government and God are replaced with a thirst of knowledge of the arts and sciences doesn't seem right. It could be cool, but it's doubtful. Maybe if it get's taken over by one with such an ideology, but still.

I always thought of the rats as freethinkers. Of course I'm probably just inserting my own bias into it.

A communist/Orwellian Thorn Valley would be cool. There's really no telling how the Rat's government is structured. I mean, there seems to be a democracy in place, but does the leader have the right to veto certain amendments and contributions, and if so, can the council override the veto?
A fanfiction dealing more with government would be an interesting subject to tackle.

I'm thinking probably Parliament style government.

Since they're my favorite form of media and it seems that people on these boards play them, I'm going to list my favorite video games, not in any particular order and there are of course 5 trillion others I could add to the list, but these are the games that come to my mind:
Silent Hill 2, Deadly Premonition (give this game a try if you love Twin Peaks and Japanese style humor, you'll love it's a $20 budget game that offers 15-20 hours of gameplay), Super Mario Bros 3, Super Mario World, Tetris, Half Life 2, Portal (not a huge fan of the sequel for some reason), Bioshock, Saints Row 2, Starcraft, Fallout (the old PC game, not Fallout 3, which sucked), Grim Fandango, Pong, Metal Gear Solid, and many, many more...

That's a pretty good bet. Though it seems that once one becomes of age, they are allowed to attend council meetings and vote. However when the population grows and since the rats can't die of old age, I imagine that will change.
