An electronic version of O'Brien's book?

It's hard to imagine a NIMH fan that haven't read "Mrs Frisby..." by Robert O'Brien. It's hard, but it's true! I haven't! And it kills me
I've already made a order in online book store, and if I'm lucky, I'm going to own my copy of it... by December the 6th! And I just can't wait to start reading it!
Anyway, what I want to know, is it possible to get an electronic version of this book, pdf, doc or txt? Maybe, some of you happened to make a scan to share it with friends or for some other purpose? If such thing exists, please, let me know! :)
Although I'm kinda out of hope, 'cause even Simon haven't heard of electronic version of "Mrs Frisby...", still I can admit that maybe somewhere, someday...

I know how you feel. I have yet to read the book or its' sequels yet either. The problem with me is that I just can't stop buying books and getting tangled into a series. Whenever I see a book that looks interesting, I think to myself "Hmm, I better get it now before I loose the chance to read it at all" and end up buying it and other novels. Soon I'm caught trying to finish continuations and other sequels of the books in order to finish it all. Once I read something and like it, I just have to finish the rest, especially when it comes to a series. x.x Now I have so many unread books stacked up in my house that I just don't have the time to get into another book. :(

Anyway, I looked at all my torrent sites from Torrent Reactor, Demonoid.com, and Mininova and found absolutely nothing on digital copies of the book for you. Sorry. Still, you said you already ordered a copy online, so maybe the best thing right now is to be patient. I know how it is when you have to wait a while when you order something online, but it will eventually arrive to you. ^^

There are probably some laws preventing scans of the book from existing on the internet for very long. I have the book and first sequel. My school's library has the whole trilogy, if I can find the time to read the last one.
Like maxx, I also get caught up in other books. I have a whole wall in my bedroom at home converted to a bookshelf, and I have only read about 25% of the books on there at best. Right now I am trying to motivate myself to finish the Kingdom Keepers 2.

Anyway, I think the copywright laws would prevent fans from sharing the book online if the publisher is not getting any sort of revenue for it. But I have been wrong in the past. Even if it is illegal, copies may be hiding somewhere on the internet.

Technically it is, but so is letting a friend borrow a book or movie; You buy an item, and then when somebody asks to borrow or have it and you let them, they just walked away with a free gift. Another fact of the matter is.....nobody really cares. Even Sony is in full support for Vuze (used to be known as Azureus), which is one of the most popular torrent companies out there. I kid you not. In a recent update to my PS3, it literally gave me a Vuze so that I could play files downloaded by it.

There are some Torrent companies that tend to play by the rules, however. Torrentspy, for example, recently deleted all of its' American members to uphold a local copyright law in the states, while other foreign members are unaffected by it and are allowed to download anyway. I think this puts Mikey in the clear.

As for me, well I mostly stick to things that are hard to find; things that have yet (or ever will) arrive in the states. In other instances, if my local rental or re-sale shop doesn't have it, then I'll download it. I'm not going to spend around $20, plus shipping and handling, on Amazon for something I'm not so sure of. If I really like it, then I'll go out and buy it. I really don't believe in downloading and keeping things on my computer. For me, its' like a 'one-time' rental thing. I prefer owning real copies and not rely on dinky video files. As for downloading books, eeehh, not my thing.

All right then! You've got a point! So I'm gonna wait till my copy of Mrs Frisby arrives)) Patience, heh? OK! Time flies, you know! Especially when having such nice company as all of you NIMH-fans out there! Thank you for your support!

Letting a friend borrow something is perfectly legal. The only time you have to worry about anything is when a copy is made. Hence the term 'copyright' law.

Anyway, I know I've seemed a bit of a stickler for it in the past, but that's mostly a CYA sort of thing. This website is already straining at the boundaries of fair use as it is, so I'd rather not get sued or shut down if I can help it. I personally think copyright law in its current form is too strict, myself. I would favor less strict penalties for the average Joe who downloads MP3s or whatever and I definitely believe that copyrights should expire a lot sooner than they are. 90+ years is far too long.

As to lending out books and movies, that generally falls under the First Sale Doctrine (in the US). Distributing copies still falls under copyright law, but the seller has no power to dictate what you can do with the original purchased work (beyond any terms agreed to before the sale). This certainly covers resale or lending of the item.

Thanks to all of you willing to help and introducing me to the way things are nowdays (meaning copyright and other stuff). Now I've got my own copy of this fine book from England and I do enjoy reading a legal and "paper" version! The topic can be closed)))

I always believed copyrights to something should end when the person who holds them dies. its kinda rediculas a 90 year copy right. the copy right laws are way too stricted

You have a point there. What use could a dead person have for money? One would think that once an artist has passed on they would be more interested in our respect than our money.

Here's a version presented by BBC radio

I've noticed some changes that Don made (some for the better). Justin has gray fur, Brutus speaks, and Nicodemus has a scar across the left side of his face and wears an eye patch over his left eye.

I doubt there are going to be much takers for that around here. Demonoid requires membership in order to download anything from their website, and the memberships are only for a selected few. They do not allow open registration.

Neat find, though.

I don't belong and I just downloaded it. Some torrents are available to the the public.

Huh, I never knew that. I was always told that memberships were private and that all downloads were locked.

My mistake, then. :P

If the torrent says (external) next to it, then its available to the public.
