As I read one of Don`s books on animation, I though nothing of it, He was talking about that at times in animation you must squish and stretch your character
Until I saw a boxer`s face getting hit in slow motion on HBO '
what you can see in near stop motion you would miss just seeing it in normal speed,

I`ve used this screen grab on a few forums as humor, but looking back I see a work that animators have used for years.
a bit of squish and stretch in animation can bring the characters more to life.
You just do`nt see it at your comfort viewing speed.

Poor Cynthia. So bent and squished. I kind of feel sorry for her.

Well, it's a fun trick too. Never tried it, and many cartoon series still use it. :)

Yeah, she got it bad (nasty animators), but she never let go of her stuffed doll during the impact :)

I'd also like to add, that Don talks about this technique in "The Art of Animation Drawing" book that I have. You can get a copy of the same book at his website too.
