I'm thinking of the scene where Nicodemus first meets Mrs. Brisby and asks her to come closer to him. Was it that he was curious to get a good look at her for the first time, or he was trying to reassure her not to be afraid? I would guess a bit of both, especially where he tells her not to be frightened. I would probably be a bit intimidated by his appearance when I first saw him.

Vision problems perhaps? Hard to tell, since his character is fairly drastically changed as compared with the book.

So they could animate both characters in the same shot? ;)

So the conversation wouldn't sound like this:
"The Great Owl sent me to--"
"What? Speak up, please."
"I SAID, the Greate Owl....."
"Dangit, those kids hid my hearing aids again!"
I say a biy of both too although Brisby is sexy so I have a feeling he wanted to have a look..
