Just curious. Have you ever listened to a song and have been reminded of a character from NIMH? I think about that all the time and was wondering if you have any songs that you consider as "a theme song" for a character.

Off the top of my head, I'd say Led Zeppelin's 'Ten Years Gone' would do reasonably well as a theme for Mrs. Brisby.

Has anyone heard of "Cassandra Gemini" by The Mars Volta? (This is my attempt to fit in a different story into the same song, which my friend did once for a sort of an event, although he created his own unlike what I'm doing...) Although not the whole song, there are excerpts that seem to match the characters views or the plot itself (although not perfect). Here is one...
You can't bend your crooked arms, or fold your punctured proof, the air is growing cold and there's nothing you can do. Soon there'll be no gauze inside the confessional, only rows of crows defrocking every breath...
This seems to match the whole concept of Mrs. Brisby's dilemma with Timothy's situation.

How's this for an idea?? Picture Cynthia piroetting to Tchaikovsy's Nutcracker Suite. If you'll recall at the beginning of the book, Cynthia is described as light-haired and a little light-headed as well and over fond of dancing. I cannot think of a piece that suites her grace and charming personality more than this. Especially during the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies.
Peace :D

Karen Carpenter`s song "Close to You" reminds me of Mrs Brisby`s memories of her and her husband.

First...I know that was an old post, Whiskers, but "Close to You" was written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. But a good choice!
As for some of mine...well, music has always been a part of my life, and in developing my own fan-fiction, pieces of music inevitably came to mind that could be part of the soundtrack if it could be brought to the big (or small) screen. The first story I wrote centered on the relationship between Johnathan and Mrs. Brisby, and in its early stages of development I started hearing familiar songs in a new light
1. On the album “Blue Jays” , a splinter project by the Moody Blues’ Justin Hayward and John Lodge, are two songs that especially resonated “This Morning” could be Mrs. B’s theme on the first morning after Johnathan’s disappearance; and the other, “I Dreamed Last Night” was just as good a fit for the storyline, though I’d rather not go into detail on it yet.
2. “Northern Sky” by Nick Drake would also fit in well as Johnathan muses giddily over his newfound love. And BTW, if you’ve heard this artist’s name referred to with an amount of reverence attached, by all means check out his music. He was a terrifically talented artist who passed on WAY too early and tragically, as much as Elizabeth Hartman.
3. “Sasquatch” by Camel, the ‘70s-‘80s British prog-rock band. I always thought it mistitled, as it brings to mind not so much enormous hairy humanoids lumbering across heavily-forested mountainsides as it does soaring over those same heavily-forested mountainsides…while on the back of a crow, perhaps? Several fan-fic authors, myself included, have written scenes in which Jeremy and other birds are giving our heroes a lift to Thorn Valley, and this instrumental tune would fit in spectacularly.
There are others I could add, but I’d rather wait until I’ve got some fan-fic posted.

Some additional comment on Nick Drake, for those who may be interested his song "From the Morning" can be heard on that current AT & T commercial, the one with Christo's orange linens; and a few years back "Pink Moon" was used in a Volkswagen spot.

Hello,
The Britney Spears song "Stronger" has always reminded me of Mrs. Brisby, and the following two YouTube music videos (They're not mine!) make me think of "The Secret of NIMH", by virtue of the fact that they are paired with footage from that movie:

There used to exist a YouTube music video that paired footage from "The Secret of NIMH" with a song (I wish that I could remember the name of that cool song!) that was about the future of kids who were experimented on, or something like that!

I'd say Jenner's theme song would be "When you're Evil" by Voltiare. 8)
Dragon's theme song is "The Kraken" by... I don't know, but it's from Pirates of the Caribbean. One of the coolest songs of any soundtrack if you ask me. I reccomend it to all. :)
I could see Mrs. Brisby singing "Somewhere" by Within Temptation.
"A Strange Device" by Emilie Autumn suits Nicodemus very well.
