Or the year of the Mouse in the Japanese New Year :)
The Chinese New Year starts on February 7th. Because I couldn't draw a pic for New Years, I'm planning to draw one for the Chinese New Year :)

Depends on what you want explained ;) but basically, In Asian countries (Particularily China and Japan), they have a 12 year cycle of animals, each representing a year. In most recent terms, the animals were,
1996- Mouse/ Rat
1997- Ox
1998- Tiger
1999- Rabbit
2000- Dragon
2001- Snake
2002- Horse
2003- Sheep
2004- Monkey
2005- Rooster
2006- Dog
2007- Boar/ Pig
and
2008- Mouse/ Rat again.
Each person has a specific zodiac depending on what year they were born. So if you were born in 2006, you would be part of the year of the Dog. And (I don't know about China), in Japan, we have a concept called "Toshi-otoko" or "Toshi-onna," which indicate the men or women respectivlly, of which live in the year of the same animal that they were born with. And that happend every 12 years. So you will be a "toshi-otoko" when your age is a multiple of 12.
I hope that helped :)
(Note that unlike Japan, in China you would be born in the year of the previous animal if you were born before the Chinese New Year.)

In the Chinese Zodiac, there is a second animal for every person. The Lunar Zodiac coincides with the main circle of animals. I am a Water Boar according to the normal chart, but according to the Lunar chart, I am a Water Rat.
