Yo! Heres something interesting:

Have any of you wandered just what type of plots animaters will make in the future for entertainment. Will they stick to the origional styles of Humanizing animal characters, building around "Fairy Tale Fantacy" etc

Or will they go for 3D style fiction in which they can do pretty much what ever they wanted for less time and money. Obviously the latter  .

Now dont get me wrong I am in no way putting down "Pixar" "Dreamworks and such Im just wandering what they can make next. Although 3d Animation has opened up such Genres as Sci-Fi Ex: "Titan A.E" I feel that they are going to run out of ideas what with the ever popular "Sequals" cropping up this way and that.

So whatta ya think? What is the future?

I think you're confusing plot with setting and characters, or methods of telling a story. Good plots are good plots (and bad ones are bad, etc.); the medium of storytelling has little to do with this. Characters and Setting can affect a plot (and vice versa) but I'd say that, as always, the right combination of all three elements is what makes for good stories.

That said, I think that people have always viewed animation, whether traditional, computer, or 3D, as an area where the impossible, or at least the improbable, is possible. If realism is needed or wanted, might as well make a live-action film! ;) Now, whether they stick to the traditional formulas of anthropomorphic animals and fairy-tale adaptations is a different question. I personally think that animators would do well to expand their repertoire to other types of stories... I mean, one look at the immense collection of speculative (sci-fi and fantasy, specifically) fiction is enough to show the great variety of stories that can be told in this medium, if people are willing to take the risk on something new and different.

That's the problem with many animation studios today. With a few[=http://www.pixar.com/]few exceptions[=http://www.blur.com/]exceptions, most places are unwilling to try more creative ideas when it comes to storytelling.

Yo! To all.

I may have confused plot with medium but it still makes a good topic. Interesting point about people comming up with things that are new and attractive. I agree, we have already seen that people have created whole new ideas by forwarding their plans. I cant think of any examples of hand but I know there are some. I woud not pick 3D animation since it was only a matter of time until someone came up with it what with advances in computer graffics.
