If You Could...

What changes would you have made to the movie? And not counting anything about the Amulet since it's been done. I personally would have added a good bye scene with Justin and Mrs. Brisby, if onlyn just to wrap up the whole story with her and the Rats. Also, I would have had Mrs. Brisby actually telling her children about Jonathan and the Rats. What about you guys?

I don't know what you mean about the Stone. We could have at least given some insight as to where it came from.
But between you and me, I would have added a scene or two more about their imprisonment at NIMH. Maybe more of the scientists and the Boniface estate. Heck, they didn't talk much about the plan for most of the movie, not even where they were going (so who told Mrs. B. they were going to Thorn Valley?).

Mrs Brisby is cute and all and I like her to death, but I must agree "where is all the girl rats" just a micro shot from the movie will not do :x , in the book a female rat (who has a crush on Justin) meets Mrs Frisby.
The rose bush seems like a gold mine town, lots of dudes but not much on the fairest of sexes, but I did notice that the fan-fics and fan-art bring more female rat/mouse charaters alive, and some are pretty hard core and can fight, but also be a lady at the worst and best of times.
Yes, more girl rat characters in the movie, do not say we have the shrew, this will not do.
From what I heard there was a scene where Brisby is in the library that was cutted.. And in that scene she meets the female rat that had a crash on Justin.. wish we can see it

Spam MGM into making a special edition of SoN. They could include more special features and include deleted scenes. Don't forget interviews with the still living members of the cast and crew.

I heard that also, If it is true, I would love to see that lost scene, I think the young rat`s name was Isabella?,, li Looks for old book li :?
linodsli No you are right.. it was Isibella, the scene was in the book after she entered the confrence hall.. And I do think that scene did clear up some of the story..

Thanks Jayn, to find the book I need in my house is a work of love, but I think you are right.
You know to see the lost movie parts is one thing, I was thinking while at work today, What if E-bay had animation cells of the (for real) lost parts of The Secert of NIMH the movie?, shall I add them to my stash of cells 8)

What stash of cells? :?
She has a large collection of cells of scene shots. If you go to her page you can see them..

I'll do that. Thanks. I saw a 3-disk edition of the Wizard of Oz today. Maybe MGM will get sense enough to do something like that to SoN.

Actually citizens, I wouldnt waste time looking for "lost" footage as in fully rendered scenes.
2d animated movies never really have lost cut scenes as the budget is usually tight and if a scene doesnt work its usually cut right after the storyboard stage. Never fully animated.
There are exceptions out there of course. The cut "soup song" scene from Snow White and the Seven dwarfs, comes to mind first. (didnt make it past the b&w test animation. Uncle Walt felt it didnt do anything for the story) And then there is the 2 versions of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. (The uncut version had scenes that was felt too violent for thier target audience,so they remade them into a "cut" version. Course they released it uncut few years later when they found their target audience actually preferred the uncut version.)
"Lost" scenes that are found and released are usually animatics using the original diologue tracks and maybe the soundtracks, synched to the unused storyboard. (Check out Disney's re-released SE DVD Alalddin for good examples of this) If they were to show this Lost scene of NIMH thats probably what would be found or made for DVD.
As for the Lost scene of Isabella and the library, Don and Gary have already touched on that. In the original script , such a scene did exist and it was cut, BUT it was cut during the story phase and long before anything was animated for it. Now there maybe some sketches of Isabella and perhaps storyboards for the scene out there, but they 're probably still in the hands of Mr Bluth and his crew.
Well again this so called scene is mostly a legand.. It stared as a rumor but after someone pointed out it is in the book people started to give it any thought. Then someone said it was in the orginal script but didn't get past the story boads. But then another rumor started saying it did get amimated but who knows..

Maybe we could do a bit of our own mythbusting to find out the truth about the Lost Scenes.

What stash of cells? :?
He means that he owns a few production cells from NIMH of course. I myself am trying to get one, but can't seem to find one at all! Oh well, better keep searching eBay!

Well I only have about five cels from the movie, light years behind Gegg and timothyB`s stash of cels.
But I`ve seen cels on E-bay from time to time, some times gobs and other times nill, there is now a 12 inch "Brisby Plushie", I may bid on that.
Raxx Mockan is right in the fact that lost scenes may never come to a full colored cell, if that part is dropped early in the production, one may (if lucky) find a old storyboard, but most likely not.
I have other NIMH junk also, books and so on if you what to see what I have then check this link out,

It`s not much but I add to my love of NIMH whenever I can.

Well the scene witch Brisby (or Frisby) goes in the library isn't a myth.. I know there is one because it is in the book. In fact there a whole chapter called "In the Library" or "The Library" about half way in the book. Itg tells how she goes in the library to think but finds Isibella.. There she tells Frisby more about thelmselves and the plain. And from what I heard, it was concidered in the movie but was droped early on..

I know it's in the book, I've got it. But I meant finding out how far it really got in the movie before they cut it.

I would definitely put in the library scene with Isabella, and introduce another female rat or two. More of the Rats' post-escape journey, with more of Johnathan. Maybe even another flashback sequence with Johnathan, set during his last night with the family, or any time for that matter.
Apparently, John Cawley's article in the library contains the last word on the "lost" library scene
