hehe. sorry, i couldnae resist. Anyhow, i hope your computer doesn't end up like mine (i.e. i have a nice new one now, because mine was irreparable), and i wish you best of luck getting back on the muck!

I don't even know how NIMH Muck works, to much confusion but that site is still cool. I've had a few troubles getting on there but now its fine. Besides NIMHmuck, leejakobson, do you have a computer of your own and are you getting on the muck successfully now?

How'd your computer bite the dust? Mine has a nice new dent in it from a couple weeks ago. I think I may have hit it too hard. My computer is running on its last reserves. I don't think it'll hold out much longer. Hopefully I have a new laptop by the time it breathes its last.

Started with a virus or two and ended with a hard drive failure. i think the processor and motherboard may still be fine, but they've always been slow as heck, so i just built a new computer that could handle what i wanted to do.

good news i fixed my computer the bad news is my network crashed sortly after i figured out what was wrong with my computer. this just is not my week. still have to use school computers well at least until i get the network up. what else can go wrong.

The computer could explode on you and get you into the hospital. Or you could become the most intelligent person on earth. Hope you figure out what's really wrong with your rig, I'm eager to finish that RP.

Bummer, Tod. My hard drive has a bad sector that was thought to be a virus. My motherboard is ancient, holding a Celeron that doesn't even crack 1 Gig, and the only accessory slots are standard PCI. half a gig of RAM, etc. I recently got a new graphics card, but I'm waiting on my parents to get me a laptop. I made my dream machine on the Dell website. Price: about $1500.

well, i'm still not sure what's wrong with my hard drive. i think it may be terminal this time. As for the new computer(s)...(yep, more than one...)
Well, the 'internet' computer is a built pc with an AMD sempron 2800 on i forget what motherboard (package deal) with 2 gig ram, a Seagate hard drive, which i'm starting to question the integrity of, and an ATI graphics card. I honestly don't remember what i spent on it, but i already had a tower and power supply and stuff so it don't really matter.
The 'big' computer has an AMD Athlon 3800 on an AsRock motherboard with 2gig of overclocked ram (433mhz, four 512's in dual channel. they were discontinued by PNY and i got a heck of a deal on them...), Nvidia GeForce 6800 graphics, and a Western Digital 160gig hard drive (IDE, not sata. it was on sale.) That computer will never see the internet as long as i own it, i built it for school and work and games...
I've also got a Compaq Presario notebook that i use for school and work, moreso than either of the others since it can go with me. It was only about $1K, but was a nice package. nvidea graphics, turion dual core processor, etc. yeah, it's nice.

The bad thing is a blew waay too much money on computers this summer and i'm scrapping to get by right now. If you ever go to one of those chinease buffet's where they have the chinease version of a horoscope placemat that describes you by your birth year, i am a 1984, which is a Rat (hehe, go figure) and is 'prone to spend freely'. Yep, that prettymuch describes me.

Ouch. Guess the truth really does hurt.
My graphics card is only a Nvidia GeForce 5500. 256 meg is about as good as it gets for PCI cards. I'm thinking of speeding up nature and overclocking my CPU to at least 1 gig. If it dies, my dad will either have to get me new parts or a new computer. If it doesn't, I may squeeze some better performance from my machine.

yeah, but it's my own fault. I spent waaay too much. On that note, what operating system are you running? I have an old IBM with a 350mhz AMD that is still not to bad for simple use, as long as it's not graphics intensive. (integrated graphics). Oh, and check your bus speed. both my AMD's in my newer computers run 1000mhz, my old pentium celeron was 400 or less, which is why it was always a dog.

A 256mb graphics card isn't bad, as long as its built well. my 256 in my sempron machine works well for everything but games, but its not a gaming graphics card, its more for movies and stuff. my Nvidia is a gaming card (Actually, Richard recommended it to me). It prettymuch smokes anything i've ever seen.

I run off Windows XP. Actually I dual boot for 95, but I may get rid of it because I outgrew the applications I needed Windows 95 for.
My computer still plays DVDs like the crappiest stuff on Youtube, but I can run my Harry Potter game under the best graphics settings without pauses.
