Well today's the day... September 28, 1956 was the day that I made my entrance into this world. I know it must have been one hell of a surprise for my old man because his birthday is on the 27th. That's why I still tease him by saying that I was his late birthday present. I mean picture this scenario if you will (The following may or may not have happened)... Imagine a room in the maternity ward at the NY Infirmary. Nurses and other attendants are frantically scurrying about as the time draws near. The doctor tells my mother to push on final time. Then it happens... I am out in the big wide world. I'm cold, wet, and could definately use a drink. As I'm held by my mother, I turn my head to face dad. Raising a chubby little hand I give the thumbs-up sign to him and say Happy Birthday Dad.
So here I am fifty years later and what a life it has been. There has been pleasure as well as pain. Moments of joy as well as sorrow. Times of relative ease as well as times when I have had to work my butt off. Through it all I survived and I thank my family and friends (that includes you good people out there in the NIMH community) for your support. Indeed if it was not for your support and generosity, I may not have made it through the tough times. Again I would just like to say thanks for the wonderful times we've shared and hopefully will continue to share for a long, long time...

Peace :D

YOU TOO DUDE!! (by the way, happy Birthday)
seriously, though. I was born on August 5, and my dad on august 4. wow, and i thought i was the only one with a story like that. that's cool.

Seriously, though, Happy Birthday, man. You're half a century old and still kicking, that's good. Nice to see that NIMH fans cross all generations, not just those born in the 70's and 80's. and maybe 90's too. anyhow, Congrats on the big five-oh. I hope you have a happy and healthy 'nother 50 years left in ya. maybe more.

I know I'm a little late but, Congratulations on making it through 50 long, wonderful years, full of happiness and good times. I've still got 33 years left to go (born in 1989), so I still got time to make wonderful memories outside High School.
May you have another awesome and prosperous 50 years.

So glad that all went well and hope you had a good time and a happy big 50.
When I was younger, when I would meet some one in their 50`s I thought, "ok when you get that old you have to be a "Stick in the Mud".
Not so, I met an older man a fandom of great books and animation, his name was Bob, Bob was a freind of mine, who was a fan of "Rescue rangers" So Bob`s brithday was coming up what shall we do?,

Well, first all the cake, we made it to be what he loved Rescue Rangers,

Bob was 65 years old at the time,[img="]http://webzoom.freewebs.com/desmouse/Bobsbrithday02.JPG[" alt=""/img]

Now he is in a nusing home , he does not recall much, he is now 82 years old.
I found out that no body is ever never to old to love this genre.

Hey Whiskers,

Your last post proves what I've been saying all along. That animation (especially good quality animation) can be enjoyed by "kids" of all ages.

Peace :D

You can take the person out of the kid, but you can't always take the kid out of the person. I will always be a kid at heart, no matter how old I get.

Neat stuff there Whiskers. :) I was wondering if it was done by hand. When I was young, I used to watch The Rescue Rangers a lot myself but I have seemed to grow out of it and move on to more animation.

Well guys I know that I did not do it, I had that famous pic of the Rescue Rangers and went around town to see if anybody could do one on a cake, but most said it could not be done, to hard and so much detail. as a last resort I took the pic I had to the Edwards Air Force base commissary and said "can you please make a cake with this pic?", the lady said "We can do that", I thought the wost it could look is a slight OK below dumb.
When Bob`s party day came, my Boss went on base and picked up the cake , I took a look and was amazed and Bob also when he saw it, he shed some tears.

Whoever and however it was done (we will never know) it has to be the best Brithday cake I`ve ever seen :D

As NIMHmaniac said " animation (especially good quality animation) can be enjoyed by "kids" of all ages." all I can say is "Amen elder brother, let it be so", and we can make Birthdays extra fun for them also 8)

Even if the government officials are top quality MUNSA (Mentally Unemployed and Noticably Stupid Association) members, the people that work in the defense can be nothing short of geniuses. It took a lot of time, talent, and blood/sweat/tears (okay maybe not that last group) to make that cake. Whoever did it should be very proud.
