Another poll from me to tell you all what you think The Secret of NIMH's genre is. Think about the movie more before putting it's actual vote here in this poll. What do you think NIMH's genre is?

This is a hard one because the film has so many elements from so many categories that to "pigeon-hole" it to one catergory does not do the film justice. Though it is more or less rated as children's/family fare, there are some scenes in the movie that might be deemed as not really suitable for children. Case in point; the duel between Jenner & Justin as they battle for eventual leadership of the colony.
Peace :D

If you're going to go that route, also missing : Science Fiction/ Science Fantasy

Personally I consider the film to be a blend of multiple genres. You have the story of the Rats of Nimh, which uses many elements of science fiction. Then you have the story of Mrs. Brisby, which is very much fantasy. I think that's one of the things that makes the film so appealing to me. It takes all these elements and brings them together in a really fantastic way.

not sure but it just feels to incomplete trying to lable it with one word. when the movie deserves so much more then that. how can you describe something that draws on many elements in one word. i may be able to do it in 200 words but even then i will miss alot.

I find SoN around the lines of Adventure, Fantasy, Sci-fi, Childeren's and Action. But I think that adventure makes it better for the movie.

I would have to put my vote in under Science Fantasy.
I would say it's a children's dramic fanicy adventure. And I think classic belongs in there too..
