Which name do you like most? This was in my head for a week now so I decided to post it.

My preference is for "Brisby" rather than "Frisby." To me, Brisby rolls off the tongue a lot easier. It should be noted that during the early stages of production for SON, the name had to be changed in order to avoid possible copyright infringement with the Wham-O Toy Company over the use of the Frisbee name that what used for their popular flying disc at the time.

Wham-O did get onto MGM for making her name sound like their product. So from what I hear, the sound people physically affected the tape every time her name was mentioned, so that it said Brisby instead of Frisby. I like both names, but I am slightly partial to sticking with the name the original author gave her.

Good post,
I would say Mrs Brisby, only on the fact that I saw and watched the movie for 15 years till I read the book, when I did, I had a hard time with this new name (really a older name but new to me) so Mrs Frisby was hard to get used to.

But I did find the character of Mrs Frisby in the book stronger and more selfassured than Mrs Brisby the of the movie.
But Don Bluth did have a few aces up his sleeve, beautiful animation and Elizabeth Heartman`s wonderful voice.
If I read the book first, and then 15 years later seen the the movie, I may hum to another tune.

I don't care for which one I choose. Mrs. Brisby has a heart full of courage to save her son, Timothy Brisby. Whenever I read the book, I usually say 'Brisby' instead of 'Frisby.' Speaking of the book, our 7th grade class is reading it!

Gotta go Frisby, but then I'm a book person. Books are just easier to tote than a television set. I'm behind the times: I know there are sets small enough to carry, but try taking them through the abuse that a book can take without showing signs of wear. Been through it at three times that I can remember, and I'll be through it again after the collection I'm into now.

So in anyway, I don't want to insult both of the names so my vote is, that I Like them both in any way! I don't which one I say, usually when reading the book, I say Brisby instead of Frisby because I like the movie in the same way as I do for the book. :) Speaking of the book, our 7th grade class is reading it!

Since your 7th grade class is reading the book what a grand time to show your NIMH stuff and share with all.

I put forth a bill on the rat`s council that Nimhster be chosen as an ambassador for all rats and mice of NIMH, to his 7th grade class, as Bill would say from the Spin Factor "what say you"?
As for me, he read the book and seen the movie, he would do well in our defence even in the matter of the Frisby/Brisby debate.

I wish that I at that time could do the same, but when I was in 7th grade it was 1967, no book, no movie.

Shoot, well, at least you got to see the film shortly after it's release! So far, my reading grade on the book is, an A. I thank you again Whiskers

I read an excerpt called 'Mrs. Frisby and the Crow' in 4th grade. Then we saw the movie. After that, I talked my parents into renting the sequel and recording it. I didn't think much more on NIMH until last summer when I caught it again on Toon Disney (the original, not the sequel). A month or two later, I got the book from a small bookstore. I like Frisby because that was her original name. Strangely enough, I read another of O'brien's books in 8th grade English. It was 'Z for Zachariah'. It was interesting the first time around, but after that, it got kind of boring.

I remember. That was what it was called. It was an excerpt from the novel. From the scene where she first met Jeremy and the only Dragon attack shown in the movie.

It's funny, I liked Frisby at first (when I first discovered TSON in '83) but as of late I like Brisby better. This is going to sound weird, but Frisby makes me think of strawberries for some reason. :D

When I read the book, her name was originally Mrs. Frisby. Don changed her name to Mrs. Brisby because he thought he might get sued for using the name that WHAM-O Toys used for the Frisbee toy.

I do like them both but I like Brisby better. I think Frisby is more a man's name for some reason..
