As many of you may already know, the 25th anniversary (has it been that long?? Wow.. Where did the time go??) of the release of the Secret of NIMH is fast approaching. July 2, 2007 is the date for those of you who want to keep track of such things. What I'd like to find out from you good people is how many of you would be in favor of a 25th anniversary re-release of this film in theatres nationwide. I'm thinking of course of not just your average re-release, but one that entails the showing of a re-mastered print that shows off the color and beauty of this film as it was originally intended. C'mon... What do you think?? Let me know
:D
It does seem to be a lovely idea, but I think it's one heck of a long shot from happening, it would be lucky if it even had a re-mastered DVD release of some kind, but other than that, a nice idea.

Are you proposing some method of bringing that to pass?
Edit: I do note that SoN got a theatrical re-release in France, and only France, in the summer of 2001. It might be productive to look into what reasoning prompted that.

Am I for it? Definitely. ^_^ Perhaps not a theatrical re-release, as I think that's virtually impossible, but a remastered DVD would be lovely. Anamorphic widescreen, with extras, at least a commentary by Don Bluth.
I know there's a petition online somewhere, although I forgot exactly where.

I think it'd be a good idea. It would be awesome if it came out in Japan so that regardless to success or not, more Japanese people can learn about the movie. There are a few movies that I want them to be degitally remastered. I think you gave me the idea that The Secret of NIMH should be one of them. I don't really watch movies in theatres that much. I personally prefer selling it on DVD. I would definately buyit in both English and Japanese (If they ever make one).
I would certainly like that. Especially if it came out in Japan like I've been saying. :)

Hey guys do`nt count me out on this one, I`m was thinking a long the same lines some months back http://www.thornvalley.com/commons/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6
and I`m all for it, the 25th year of NIMH will also be my big "50"brithday and I would love to see SON on the "big screen" and a cool DVD that is re-mastered from heck with all the goodies by the way . :D
What I have in mind is to send the results of this poll to MGM?UA itself. That's why I need your votes. The more votes that I can get showing that there definitely is a demand for a re-release, the more the big wigs at the top will have to sit up and take notice. It goes back to what I've said in the past... We have to demand quality if we are ever to get it. Otherwise we'll be mired in a proverbial dung heap.
Somewhat of an online petition, eh? Well I don't think you'll have very much luck, especially around here concidering how very little members are present. I think it's going to take more than just the people here to even bring attention to a demand for a theatrical re-release of of an old movie title, I mean, I see 3 year old petitions demanding DVDs for old cartoons to many other networks that have signatures which range in the millions and they still don't really care for them.
MGM doesn't even bother with answering e-mailed questions on their website, or anything else for that matter. They're also very dis-organized, they even make movies ahead of time when they don't even own the rights to anything and are delayed by someone's claim.
Other than that, good luck.

I think Maxx may be right , our fan base is small, and I have seen the older petitions (I think it was on the Big NIMH Page site, not sure). Well, we`ll see what the 25th may bring. libummerli :?
BTW: keep you your hopes alive we still have Thorn Valley and who knows they may surprise us on that silver anniversery :)

liLaughs!li I said "no", but I supose that's more fear of a recurring "Nimh 2" disaster. I'm all for digital remastering. I'd love to see something like an editor's cut, too. Whatever's available.
