I'm new to this so please forgive me if there are any serious flaws or errors if you will. OK here goes; What I want from you good people out there is to know how the movie "Secret of NIMH" has affected your everyday life and how it may have affected the way you conduct yourself on the job as well. Please feel free to elaborate in your replies and don't worry, the results will not be disclosed to anyone outside of the NIMH community.

Peace :D

I would say that it has effected my life in a way in that appreciating it has lead me to be in touch with so many people who sure in their liking for it, like you guys for instance.

Since I am currently unemployed iit has not effected my job since I do not have one! However when I let my classmates take a look at the art gallery on Thorne valley they oved it!

Secret of NIMH has awakened a sense of emotion within me that has probably manifested itself mostly in my artwork. There is an element of soul that I attribute to it. This is hard to describe.

Actually, it has effected all my work, be it nimh related or not. I have always tried to contain heart and soul in my work but I feel that is now elevated.

It hasn't effected my job as that contains no creativity what so ever.

Yeah.. it affected my life, in a lot of ways. I discover new things every day and were it not for NIMH, none of it would have happened.

Yeah, it affected my job (or future one rather). Not sure how at the moment but I know somehow it did/will do.

Yes it has, I made a comment on this some time ago, the 25th year of this movie coming up soon in a few years and I know NIMHmainic you saw the full big screen version my old friend (I wish I did) , but it does clinge to your life, in ways you will not put off likely, just this friday me & timothyB are biding on NIMH movie cels, I won a Mrs Brisby cel & timothyB won the other one Mrs Brisby & Justin. but who would care or enjoy these things unless you where a NIMH/animation fan at all, ever since I enjoyed the movie / book I have no regrets, the world goes on, and animation fans are not loved or understood in life and on the job, only by other fans of this genre (But stop me loving what I like , No Way !!) :D

Yeah, it's affected me. I love animation and to me 'The Secret of NIMH' is one of the premier examples, so it's constantly at the forefront of my mind. I'm off in my own little dream world most of the day (I try to spend on average no more than four hours a day on earth) and it is the films I've seen, the books I've read, the music I've heard that helps me maintain my little bubble of imagination. More often than not I potter around my (temporary) job humming "Flying dreams" or incidental music from any number of my favourite films (at least when I'm not using my work computer to access this forum). I suppose it further affects how I act in that a lot of the time I have to wake myself up from wherever I am to deal with something in the real world.

Perhaps one of the best things (for me) about the film is it's influence on my hobbies. I love to write and draw and of course 'The Secret of NIMH' has been the focus of my attention for some time now. Studying the Bluth/Pomeroy character designs has helped in my general design work, and writing the fanfic has aided me in developing how I present my writing (in fact, the story will actually be the first that I've come up with and actually written all the way through to the end. NIMH has managed to hold on to my imagination long enough for me to stick with the story, another testament to its charm). Thinking about it, before I started writing the fanfic, I found writing a bit of a bore, but now, I love it. I still have a lot to learn regarding word smithery, but NIMH has started me on the path.

It might if you work in one of those science labs. Start wondering if what you're putting into the test mice and rats is making them smarter, stronger, bigger and whatever else what happened to the Rats in NIMH.

true but not many people have jobs like that.any way i am betting it does not help people in the work arrea as much as people outside it. i mean when you do a job for too long you start geting numb to the afect your job has on others you dont know.

To Jam,

It's quite an interesting coincidence that you mention that you are currently unemployed at this time. When I saw "Secret of NIMH" for the first time nearly 23 years ago, I too was unemployed. In fact, I was not to be gainfully employed until two years after seeing the movie. But that's enough about me and my story for now. However, I will say this... Secret of NIMH has touched me in some ways that I cannot even begin to describe. One thing is for certain. That is the fact that this movie was the catalyst for re-awakening my love of the artform that is Classical Style Animation. Oh sure there have been other animated features (some great ones in fact) that came on the scene well before NIMH and others that have appeared since then. But it was NIMH that truly captivated me and still has something of an emotional hold on me even to this very day 23 years after the fact. Just to give an example; In times of stress, I often find myself humming "Flying Dreams." At the job, my computer password happens to be N-I-C-O-D-E-M-U-S. When the time comes to change the code, you can be sure that it will be another NIMH character that I'll use.

Er... Might not be the best idea to reveal to the world your method of choosing a password. But then, I'm the sort that actually seems to care about such things. ;)

Domo!

After being obbsessed with the Secret of NIMH, I found a new hobby, and also I have finally realized that Disney isn't the best at everything. It seems that DOn Bluth created this movie to do things that he wasn't able to back when he was Disney. I still enjoy Disney movies. But "The Secret of NIMH" will be a movie that I will remember as "A non-Disney" movie. Disney would have never been able to make that magnificent movie.
