I know I promised one of these threads[=http://www.thornvalley.com/commons/forum/viewtopic.php?t=131]promised one of these threads earlier, but it slipped my mind, and I got busy with things. Sorry about that. Anyway, I guess I'll start things off: the fan-art gallery has seen a lot of new art in the past while.

First off, we have four new contributing artists for the fan art gallery: Leandro[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/leandro]Leandro, Elizabeth Sellars[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/elizabeth]Elizabeth Sellars, Nathan[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/nathan]Nathan and Tzolkin[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/tzolkin]Tzolkin.

Secondly, as ever Marcus[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/marcus]Marcus has been posting a lot of great new art recently; he just passed the 100 image mark for pics in his gallery. If you haven't been keeping an eye on his gallery, now is the time to remedy that. :)

Thirdly, I finally managed to find time to do some color work to Procyon's It Sleeps[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/album03/itsleeps_color_001]It Sleeps drawing. So check that out too. :)

Finally, if anyone wants to post art that they're working on (that's in good taste, of course) feel free to use this thread.

Drat, I knew I forgot someone. Sorry 'bout that. As for my technique, I use a slightly altered version of the techniques presented in Al Mackey's Photoshop Tutorial[=http://www.fur.com/~almackey/tutorial/]Al Mackey's Photoshop Tutorial. I've also colored two other images before this one: Scarred Timothy[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/misc/fs_timscar]Scarred Timothy and Naomi[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/marcus/NaomiF1]Naomi, though this is the first time that I've had the benefit of using a wacom tablet. Makes things quite a bit easeir. :)

Thanks for the link to the coloring tutorial. I'll have to look into that some time.

Eight pieces of art from a new contributing artist, Ben[=http://www.thornvalley.com/gallery/fan/ben]Ben has been added to the gallery. It features some great sketches of the Brisby kids, both old and young. Check it out!

As an aside, this is something like the 3rd or 4th new contributor in the past month or so! I'm liking this trend! ;)

Lots of new and great artist for NIMH in recent times on this site, it is a great trend. :D since I do not draw (maybe flies) I`m so glad to see such devotion in a art.
just when it seems NIMH has died, others come and bring it back to it`s fullness of life. to the old artist and the new = you guys Rock !! 8)

Man, I just can't get over the amount of very good, very cool fan-art that's coming in. This time around we have new art from Procyon, Louise, Nathan, Marcus, Ben and Leandro. Check it out! And keep up the good work, guys!

The semester will be ending soon, so I'm hoping to look into adding some features to more easily track new images posted to the gallery soon.

Even tho the forum is kinda quiet for now, the art gallery is hopping. lots of new fan art every day (and I mean every day).

I don't know about the other people who post art, but somehow seeing other people express themselves just eggs me on with inspiration to draw more as well (grins!).

Precisely put! It's a glorious cycle. Everyone wants in on the fanart rush… I know I do. I feel the same as Mal, with everyone else posting fantastic art, I want to go and do some pictures as well.

I got a few in the works. Hopefully they will be up soon. I'm not as fast as most. I'll have some NIMH stuff and some OTHER stuff as well.

As you know I'm a totally beginner at drawing, I mean seriously I never took a pencil to draw ANYTHING, and was after seen all the fantastics pictures of everyone at the Fan-Art that encourage me to try it.
I started copying others's drawings to try and get the pattern of how to draw each part. Then I tried to draw original characters of my own (you have to see my first drawings :lol: )
Every day I learn something new, but even that I'm still too slow cause first I have to draw by the old way (just my pencil and my eraser) and then scaner it and clean it with the photoshop (that take me a while cause I use the eraser too much and leaves scratches everywhere :( ).
Then I add the color, a background and that's all.
Well, all the process takes me two to three days. :shock:
So I want to cheer up all that didn't try to draw yet, cause if I can do it everyone can. :wink:

This was the first NIMH art I'd done, just picked up a pencil while watching the movie and started drawing. Please excuse her lack of cloak :oops:

Altough I have 3 art pieces Scifly, I have 10 more done!
My dad is being lazy and he says he has a lot of 'work' to do. (Which he doesn't. :evil: :roll: )

They won't be posted for a while so I'll have to keep asking my dad to post them. :P

We'll my Dad is lazy too. When he needs something done on the computer he gets me to do it :wink:
